privacy policy

last updated september 4, 2026 · this is a draft for review by counsel and is not yet in force. bracketed items are placeholders.

This policy explains what [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] (“Larry,” “we”) collects when you use the Larry service, why, and what control you have. Messages you send Larry are personal by nature, so this policy is written to be read.

1. what we collect

  • Sign-up: your first name, mobile number, time zone, IP address, browser type, and a record of your consent (time, page, terms version).
  • Messages: everything you send Larry and everything he sends you, including photos, voice memos and their transcriptions, and message metadata (times, delivery and read status, reactions).
  • What Larry derives: food and training logs, calorie and macronutrient estimates, goals and commitments you state, streaks, and summaries.
  • Website use: basic server logs. We do not use advertising trackers on the site.

We do not collect payment card numbers ourselves; a payment processor does when paid plans launch, under its own policy.

2. why we use it

  • to run the service: reply to you, remember what you told Larry, send the check-ins you agreed to;
  • to keep the service safe: rate limiting, abuse prevention, and automated safety checks on message content;
  • to improve the service, including evaluating and training the AI models behind Larry (you can opt out; see section 6);
  • to meet legal obligations, including keeping consent records for text messaging.

3. who else sees it

We use service providers to operate Larry. They process data only to provide their service to us:

  • Messaging delivery (currently Blooio, Inc.) carries messages to and from your phone and stores message content and metadata under its own terms.
  • AI model providers receive message content to generate replies and estimates. Which provider we use can change; we do not allow providers to use your content to train their models where their terms give us that choice.
  • Hosting and database providers (currently Vercel and Supabase) store the data described above.

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share your mobile number with third parties for their marketing. We disclose data when the law requires it or to protect safety.

4. how long we keep it

Messages and logs are kept while your account is active and for [RETENTION PERIOD] after you stop, then deleted or anonymized. Consent records and STOP requests are kept for [CONSENT RETENTION PERIOD] as proof of compliance. Safety-flagged content may be kept longer to improve safety systems.

5. your choices and rights

  • Stop messages: text STOP to Larry at any time.
  • Delete your data: email [SUPPORT EMAIL] from the number's owner, or text Larry “delete my data.” We delete your account, messages, and logs; the consent record is retained as described above.
  • Access or correct: email [SUPPORT EMAIL] and we will send what we hold about your number.
  • Training opt-out: see section 6.

Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, and other states with privacy laws have the rights those laws provide, exercisable at [SUPPORT EMAIL]. We do not discriminate for exercising them.

6. training opt-out

Email [SUPPORT EMAIL] with the subject “training opt-out.” From that point your content is excluded from model training and evaluation sets. Content already used remains in models already trained. Safety-flagged content may still be used to improve safety systems.

7. children

Larry is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has signed up, email [SUPPORT EMAIL] and we will delete the account.

8. security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest with our providers. Access is limited to what operating the service requires. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you we will notify you as the law requires.

9. automated decisions and AI

Larry's replies, estimates, and check-ins are generated automatically. They are not medical or professional decisions and they do not have legal or similarly significant effects on you. You can ask Larry whether he is an AI at any time, and he will say so.

10. changes

We will post updates here and, for material changes, tell you by text before they take effect.
